Is my child on the waiting list right now?
If you have filled out an application and given it to an office staff member then your child is on the waiting list. If you would like to double check or just be extra sure, we can look up the physical piece of paper your child's information is on and confirm, either over the phone or in person.
How long is the waiting list?
The length of time spent on the waiting list varies from instrument to instrument due to availability of teachers. Often as is the case with piano and violin, the wait can be upwards of a year or more due to a low turn over rate and the popularity of both. Voice and cello have noticeably shorter lists better listed in weeks or months rather then years.
How can I donate to the Regent Park School of Music?
Donations can be made to the school using any of these 3 easy methods:
- Via Mail (by cheque) to:
Regent Park School of Music
534 Queen Street East, Toronto, ON M5A 1V2 - Over the Phone with a Credit Card to:
416.364.8900 - And on our Website through our online partner: Canada Helps.org
Is Regent Park School of Music a registered charity?
Yes we are and the number is: 87211 6025 RR0001
Can I donate an instrument to the school?
Yes, we accept instrument donations. Please give us an honest description of the condition of the instrument. We are able to arrange for very small repairs but prefer to receive instruments that are ready to be rented to a student. If you have an instrument in working condition and it is on the list below, please feel free to just bring it by!
What instruments do you accept?
We welcome instrument donations which we currently teach: Piano, Guitar, Viola, Violin, Cello, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and Percussion. If you have any other instrument, please call us. We are not accepting organs, harps, or accordians.
How can I donate a piano?
We have a list of students who currently are in need of pianos. When you contact us with a piano you want to donate, we then contact the next student on our waiting list. When we find a match, we arrange for the piano movers to take the piano directly from your house to the students house on a morning or afternoon when you will both be home. All donations are anonymous to the student's family. If the value of the piano is unknown, we can arrange for an appraisal one month after the piano has been moved when it is first tuned at the student's home. After we receive the value of the piano, we can issue you a tax receipt.
Are tax receipts issued for donations?
Yes, we issue tax receipts for both monetary donations as well as instrument donations. We can also issue a thank you note to a third party should you be donating on someone else's behalf. If you are donating an instrument and would like a tax receipt, please provide us with the value of the instrument.
